#look how the sparks behind her form wing shapes #anna has always been portrayed with fire symbolism #i wonder if she was the kind of angels #made of eyes and fire #(i remember the fire being in the shape of a circle? with eight eyes? or something? idk) #but yes #anael’s wings are made of fire #castiel’s of shadow#raphael’s of lightening #wish we had seen more of the others #it saddens me that the next time we see her fire wings #is on the painted front of a truck #okay dot jpg (via crowleyshouseplant)
oh my god
oh my god you do not want to get me started on sorting the spn angels into ranks based on the christian angelic hierarchy I could do that shit all night
on the one hand the imagery of Anna being a Throne/Ophanim is great because Anna and fire go together perfectly. but on the other hand they are the ones who are in the third sphere which is the sphere closest to God and furthest away from humanity, which doesn’t quite mesh up right with all the hints dropped to her garrison being stationed on Earth (although it would provide some wonderful heartaching… idk, poeticness? I’m not sure of the right word here - to her desire to become human, wanting to be something you’re about as far away from as you can get ugh ugh ugh)
I tend to headcanon that all the angels in Cas and Anna’s garrison are second-tier angels? So, Powers, Virtues, Dominions. Angels that are powerful enough in the hierarchy of the Host to throw some serious weight around, but not so far removed from the doings of Earth that they don’t occasionally deal with humanity etc. For reference, I tend to think that Cas, at least before he Falls in s5 and is re-angeled in s6, is a Power. (Powers are the warrior class; they’re created to be completely loyal to God, and are also the keepers of history and the angels who serve as advisers and policy planners - strategists, basically.) TBPH the Power class is perfect for Cas and I can’t see him being created as anything else - after he’s re-angeled at the end of s5 is another story since he’s clearly given a power boost, but since Raphael can still wipe the floor with him in a toe-to-toe fight I’d say he’s still definitely not in the highest sphere power-wise. Maybe on the level of a Dominion or a low-level Ophan, but definitely not a Cherub or Seraph. /unpopular opinion go :|b
Returning to Anna… I could see her being a Dominion, maybe? It’d fit with how she was the commander of her own garrison, and the Dominions are also associated with light (apparently traditional representations of them wield orbs of light and stuff which is p. cool). Not to mention they’re supposed to be the ones who watch over nations, which ugh I can see Anna doing that so damn much. It’d also explain why she was stationed on Earth for thousands of years, and how she was able to develop a liking and longing for humanity that resulted in her Fall.
tl;dr I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT ANGELS, OKAY.
omfg fel, never stop talking about angels
